Discounted Lift Tickets at Several Resorts for Buying Shell Fuel

My family is headed to Squaw Valley for a ski vacation in March, and I’ve been looking for discounted lift ticket options.  I recently discovered the following website, which describes discounted lift ticket deals at numerous ski areas in California, Colorado, Michigan, and Oregon.  To qualify for the discount, it just requires purchasing 10 gallons of Shell fuel, and requesting a voucher.

There are some date restrictions, depending on the ski area.  This deal offers 2 for 1 lift tickets. Please check out the link below for all the details:

Some of the resorts participating in this promotion include the following:

- Alpine Meadows

- Kirkwood

- Squaw Valley

- Copper Mountain

- Loveland

- Crested Butte

- Winter Park

- Hoodoo

- Mt. Hood Meadows

- Timberline

LivingSocial is adding Bend, Oregon as one of its cities for deals!

I live in Bend, Oregon – a town of about 80,000 people in the center of Oregon.  I don’t know exactly what the criteria is for deal websites, but Bend is currently not a city on most of the deal sites.

Bend does have Zing Dealz (http://www.zingdealz.com/) and Do Local Deals (http://dolocaldeals.com/) but until now, it has not attracted any of the larger, more well-known deal sites (Groupon, etc.).

That, however, is changing.  Living Social has hired a local Bendite to establish Bend as a city in its deal choices.  I have heard the launch will be happening soon and will keep you posted!

Medela Breast Pump Accessories – Free

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted here.  I just want to comment on how awesome Medela has been to me.

I purchased a Medela Pump-in-style Advance breast pump in 2006, when my first son was born.  In preparation for my youngest son's birth this year (in 2010) I decided to purchase some new parts for my breast pump.  I looked everywhere (in stores and online) for another set of tubing and could not find a place to purchase just replacement tubing.  There were options to purchase an entire set of shields and tubing for around $70.00, but I just wanted tubing.

So, I called Medela directly after obtaining their phone number off the website.  The website is: http: //www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/.  The contact information is below:

Medela, Inc. Breastfeeding U.S.
1101 Corporate Drive
McHenry, IL  60050
1-800-435-8316
Fax: 815-363-1246

When I called, I chose the prompt that got me to a real person.  I explained my need for new tubing and that person was able to determine that I actually needed a new faceplate to accommodate the tubing they now make at Medela.  She sent me a new faceplate and new tubing for free – and didn't even charge me for shipping.

A few months later, I decided it would be helpful to have a second set of tubing.  I called Medela again, and requested more tubing.  I fully expected to pay for it, but they sent it to me free of charge again.  I have piece of mind because if something happens to my tubing, pumping will not work.  This happened to me with my first son.  A hole got poked in my tubing somehow, and I was not able to pump while at work one day.  An extra set of tubing on hand will prevent that from happening again.

I highly recommend the Medela breast pump, and I am so impressed with their level of customer service.  Thank you Medela!

Piperlime.com – 20% off your entire purchase

Sorry for the very long delay since my last post.

Piperlime.com is an online shopping site that offers free shipping and free returns on various apparel and accessories.  I have not used it before but I have many friends who speak highly of this site.

If you go to the site, and type in "WOW" in the search field, you will receive a code for 20% off your first purchase on the site.  I received my discount code immediately when I did this earlier this week.  The code is good for your entire purchase and expires 7/31/10.

Good luck and enjoy!

Make the best of all of your online shopping

This post may be a bit too late for Christmas shopping, but it can be something to keep in mind going forward.  If you plan to purchase anything online, be sure to link to the website that you are going to purchase from through an incentive site.

Here is what I mean:

This year I went to www.mileageplanshopping.com prior to purchasing any online gifts.  Many retail websites (such as rei.com, macys.com, etc.) can be accessed through that website, and I earned Alaska Airlines frequent flier miles just by linking to the sites this way.  It’s an easy thing to do, and allows you to get additional credit for making online purchases that you would make anyway.

Check out the shopping link at your favorite airline frequent flier site to do this.  Or, some banks and credit card companies offer similar incentives to link to online retailers through their sites (usually by allowing you to accrue additional points, or even cash back, if you use their debit or credit cards).

One online retailer that never seems to linked through these incentive sites is www.amazon.com.

If you are motivated to take an extra step to save additional money, I recommend checking out www.retailmenot.com or www.dealcatcher.com to obtain discount codes which you may be able to use when making an online purchase.

Join Magazines.com!

I've recently become a big fan of magazines.com.  Go to the site and sign up to receive their email specials.  I received a $10 gift card last week which I just used this morning to get a Christmas gift.  Every day they have specials on magazine subscriptions that are very inexpensive.  In the last week I've seen $5 annual subscriptions to Women's Health, Real Simple, and Maxim for example.  Happy shopping!
